In the great commission, Jesus sent His Apostles to “make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you” (Matthew 28:20). This commission to evangelize – that is, to share the Good News of God’s saving plan for us – and the call to catechize – that is, to put people not inly in touch, but in communion, in intimacy with Jesus Christ – exist as the central mission of the Church.
