Sacred Heart Retreat Center

Sacred Heart Retreat Center is a facility and ministry of the Diocese of Gallup. It exists to serve the spiritual needs of all who come here. Rooted in the Gospel teachings of Jesus Christ and of the Roman Catholic Church, Sacred Heart Retreat Center is a place of hospitality, quiet prayerfulness and desert beauty for all who come desiring to deepen their relationship with God and nourish their spiritual life through prayer, retreat, and spiritual and educational programs.

The staff of the Bishop’s office help to assist with the day-to-day running of the Diocese of Gallup and assist the Bishop in the scheduling of pastoral duties.

The Center is open to spiritual, educational, cultural, business and civic groups who are searching for growth in wholeness and holiness.

Sacred Heart Retreat Center grounds have been truly blessed by God. No matter what the season, the natural beauty is astounding. The Center is located on fifteen acres of rugged land with lots of outcrops. Chairs and benches are scattered over the property. For those who like to pray while walking there are outdoor Stations of the Cross and a Rosary walk.

A variety of weekend retreats is offered, as well as directed retreats. A hermitage is available for private retreats. Spiritual Direction is available by appointment. There are many and various ways to deepen your relationship with God and be nourished spiritually.

There are four small hogans, one large hogan, and a twelve-bedroom hall with a bathroom in each bedroom. Marian and Tekakwitha Halls are large conference rooms for meetings. Drexel, St. Joseph and Merici are suitable for smaller groups. A hogan-styled chapel is available for private prayer and Catholic services during your retreat.
